Locking a Workspace
*
The ability to lock a workspace is only available in Windchill PDMLink, Windchill ProjectLink.
The primary purpose of locking a workspace is to prevent unintended changes to the workspace cache when it has been exported. This can help reduce conflicts when the portable workspace is imported back.
When you lock a workspace, the following actions are prohibited for objects in the workspace:
Edit Properties
Add/Edit Attachment
Rename
In addition, the following actions are prohibited in the registered CAD application File menu:
Save
Save and Upload
Check in
To manually lock one or more workspaces, select the workspaces on the My Workspaces page and click the lock icon . A workspace can also be locked from the Server Management utility by selecting the workspace and then selecting Workspace > Lock Workspace.
*
The lock behavior only applies to the workspace cache on the client, not the server-side workspace. When viewing workspaces from a standalone browser, there is no concept of locked or unlocked workspaces.
