License compliance for Creo and Windchill Workgroup Manager
Windchill provides you with access to authoring application through Windchill licenses. The license group membership determines your access to product features. For more information, see Windchill License Groups
Windchill has enforced Windchill license for Creo and Windchill Workgroup Manager for a CAD application to help you operate the CAD application within the purview of your Windchill license. When connecting Windchill through Creo and the Windchill Workgroup Manager for a CAD application as an authoring application, Windchill verifies your license group membership for the required Windchill License profiles. If you have a valid Windchill license, then the server connection is accepted. Else, the server connection is rejected.

When you try to register a new server, or try to access a CAD authoring tool, then the system requests your Windchill login credentials. The login credentials help Windchill determine your license profile and the validity of the license. The following table lists some of the common scenarios and their outcomes when the license verification is carried successfully or fails:

Access is denied to the new CAD tool instance.
When connection to a CAD application or Windchill is refused, failure notification is displayed through error messages as described in the following table:

When Windchill Workgroup Manager is connected to Windchill server, and CAD application connection is refused due to absence of a valid license.
Insufficient Windchill license to integrate with CAD application: <CAD Application name + version> and Windchill Server <Windchill Server Alias>, connection to <CAD Application name + version> is refused.
When Creo or Windchill Workgroup Manager is connected to a CAD application, Windchill connection is refused due to lack of valid license.
Insufficient Windchill license to Windchill Server, <Windchill Server Alias>, connection to <Windchill Server Alias> is refused.
The use of Windchill through Creo or Windchill Workgroup Manager is recorded. To view your license usage record, use the Windchill License Usage Report in System Configuration Collector or in Windchill Performance Advisor.

CAD worker enabled with file synchronization requires a Windchill user ID with a valid Windchill license to run Windchill Workgroup Manager to publish to a specific CAD tool. If user ID has insufficient Windchill license entitlement to run Creo or Windchill Workgroup Manager for File Synchronization for a specific CAD application, publication job fails and job failure message is printed at WVS job monitor.

Windchill License is not enforced for Creo and Windchill Workgroup Manager connecting to Arbortext Content Manager.
Minimum License Profile Requirement
To integrate CAD applications with Windchill, a user must be entitled to a valid license through Windchill License Profile group This provides visibility to the capabilities associated with each license profile today
When a user connects to Windchill through Windchill Workgroup Manager with a registered CAD application, Windchill will check the license profiles associated with the user ID
If the user does not have a valid Windchill license at the appropriate level, the Windchill server connection will be refused.
File synchronization enabled CAD Workers require a user ID with a proper Windchill license in order to run Windchill Workgroup Manager for publishing using these CAD tools

Adding a User to Profiles
To add a user to profiles, perform the following steps:
1. In the Windchill Workgroup Manager screen, click Browse from the sidebar.
2. Click Site > Profiles.
The Profiles page appears.
3. In the Profile Members section, click the license group.
The license group details screen appears.
4. Click Actions > Edit Group.
The Edit Group dialog box opens.
5. Click Add Members.
6. To add members click Add icon .
