Windchill License Types
Windchill licenses are categorized in two categories:
Active Daily User License: Temporary Windchill license
Named User License: Perpetual Windchill license
Active Daily User
An Active Daily user license is a temporary license which remains valid for a period of 24 hours. The validity of an active daily user ranges from 00:00 hrs GMTto 23:59:59 hrs GMT; if a user is assigned with an active daily user license at 23:30 hours then the license remains valid for that user only for 30 minutes.
For example, if the active daily license count is 30, then the administrator can only assign active daily license to 30 users.
An administrator cannot add users to active daily user group if the license feature has expired or has become invalid. The License Information table does not display expired and invalid licenses.
*
There is no limitation to the number of users that an administrator can add to the Active Daily User license group.
Named User License
A named user license is a limited number of license available to users, groups, and organization. For example, if the user count of PDMLink license is 10, then the administrator can add only 10 users to the group. If a user is removed from the license group, then the available license quantity increments by one for that license feature. This information can be viewed in License Details table in built-in License Management utility.
A user with an invalid or an expired named user license cannot perform any actions in Windchill. Such license information is not displayed in the License Information table.
