Installing Using the Appropriate Permissions
You must have certain permissions before you can install your Windchill solution.
Windows
You must have administrative privileges to install.
UNIX
You can log in as a root or non-root user and use the PSI’s Solution installation type to complete your installation.

To run SQL Server Configuration Utility on Linux successfully in the initial run, operating system user mssql needs read/write permission from root of directory structure to datafiles in Windchill installation. The default location for datafiles is same as the location selected for installation. This requirement is specific to Windchill 12.0.0.0 release only.
|
If you choose to reference an existing HTTP Server during your installation, the PTC Solution Installer (PSI) references the components as the user that is installing each component. For example, if you execute PSI and install HTTP Server as root and you later run the PSI as a different user to install a Windchill solution that is configured to use the existing HTTP Server, then the non-root user will not have permission to access the HTTP Server logs.
Oracle requires a database administrator who does not have root access to install.

A non-root installation of HTTP Server requires that you set port numbers to 1024 or higher.
