Basic Requirements for LDAP Failover
The following basic requirements must be met before configuring LDAP failover:
An LDAP failover capability requires two or more LDAP servers in a failover group.
These LDAP servers must hold the same content, or at least have the same content in the parts of the directory tree used or searched by Windchill.
Changes made to one server in the group must be quickly applied to all other servers in the group.
All servers in the failover group must use the same bindDN and password for administrative access.
Meeting the requirements requires the use of multi-master replication. To set up multi-master replication, install and configure additional Windchill Directory Servers so they are replicating together. The data being replicated must include the entire directory, or at least all portions of the directory used by Windchill.
For information on setting up Windchill Directory Server replication, see Replication.
After you set up replication among at least two Windchill Directory Servers, verify that it is working correctly and replicating data. Then, make the Windchill configuration changes described in LDAP Failover Configuration Changes.
