Visibility Tab
From the
Visibility tab for an attribute, you can view and set the visibility for the attribute for particular operation. If an attribute is inherited from a parent type, its visibility can only be made more restrictive than the attribute visibility on the parent type; it cannot be made less restrictive. Changes made here are immediately reflected in the
Visibility by Operation view of the type information page
Attributes tab.
Setting Attribute Visibility
To change the visibility of an attribute for a specific operation, use the following procedure.
1. Select Edit from the type information page Actions menu for the type to enter edit mode.
2. Select the desired visibility option for the attribute and operation combination you want to set. The options for visibility are:
◦ Read/Write—the attribute can be viewed and edited.
◦ Read Only—the attribute can only be viewed.
◦ Value Hidden—the attribute name is displayed, but the value is hidden.
◦ Hidden—both the attribute and the value are hidden.
3. Click Done to save the changes and return to view mode, or click Save to save the changes and remain in edit mode.
Operations
Attribute visibility can currently be set for the
Create New,
Edit, and
EPM Upload operations. For more information on the screen types impacted by each operation, see
Viewing and Setting Attribute Visibility.

Some visibility settings defined on certain attributes may not be reflected throughout the user interface. These attributes include: Name, Number, and all user- or participant-related attributes. To hide these attributes from a specific operation, exclude these attributes from the corresponding attribute layout for the appropriate screen type. Enhancements are planned to close this gap in a future release.
