Tools (Query Builder)
The Tools tab provides useful information for advanced query authors. The Tools tab becomes active once a query is valid:
• A name has been specified on the Properties tab
• At least one table or report template has been added on the Tables and Joins tab
• At least one reportable item has been added on the Select or Constrain tab

The Tools tab is only visible when the Reports > Query Builder > Developer Mode preference is set to Yes in the Preference Management utility. For more information, see Preference Management.
The following actions are available from the Tools tab:
Action
Description
View QML
View the latest QML (query markup language) for the report template. The QML can be copied out of this view and pasted elsewhere to share with others.
View SQL
View the SQL that is generated for the report template QML.
Preview Report
Displays a quick preview of the report output. Useful to quickly preview the results as you are adding tables and joins. The number of rows displayed in the preview is limited by the Reports > Query Builder > Preview Row Limit preference in the Preference Management utility. The default value for the Preview Row Limit preference is 200 rows.
To see the complete report output, use the View Report action. Note that while the Preview Report action includes unsaved changes, the View Report action runs against the latest saved changes.
