Templates (Products and Libraries)
Templates links appear in the Navigator under Products , Libraries , Organizations , and Site . Clicking any of the Templates links displays the Templates table for that context. When launched from Organizations > Templates or Site > Templates, the template icons on the Templates table allow you to perform template activities at an organization and site level. These activities include creating and updating organization, product, and library templates.
The icons and actions that are available when the Templates table is launched from Products > Templates and Libraries > Templates allow you to perform template activities in a product and library context. The template activities that you can perform from Products > Templates and Libraries > Templates are similar. The only difference is the context from which each activity is started:
Clicking an icon or selecting an action on a product Templates table performs the template action in the context of the current product. For example, clicking the new document template icon from the Bike123 product Templates table associates the document template being created with the Bike123 product. The template will not be available for use in other products or in any libraries.
Clicking an icon or selecting an action on a library Templates table performs the template action in the context of the current library. For example, clicking the new document template icon from the Common Bike Parts library Templates table associates the document template being created with the Common Bike Parts library. The template will not be available for use in other libraries or in any products.
For information on the types of templates that are available in Windchill solutions which include products and libraries, access to the templates, and explanations of the templates, see Working with Object Templates and Working With Context Templates.
