SOLIDWORKS: Support for Derived Configurations Management
Product: Windchill Workgroup Manager for SOLIDWORKS
Release: 12.0.0.0
Benefit
In SOLIDWORKS, you can create derived configurations as variations of a configuration of a part or assembly model within a single document. Windchill allows you to expose a derived configuration as a CAD document. When a derived configuration is saved to Windchill, it is managed as a family instance of a master model, and the relationship is visible in the family table report in Windchill.
Additional Details
A dedicated SOLIDWORKS parameter is available for defining whether a derived configuration is managed as an instance to Windchill.
A nested derived configuration (for example, derived configuration within a derived configuration) can be managed as an instance in Windchill.
A Windchill family table report does not support a multi-hierarchical structure. Derived configurations are shown as the first-level child in a family table report.
When an unmanaged derived configuration is added to an assembly, its nearest managed parent is shown as a component in CAD structure.
