Setting the Preferred File Server Site
Each remote user can specify a preferred site from which to download files. If the content to be downloaded is available on the preferred site, the content is downloaded from that site. If not, the content is downloaded from the master site.
Similarly, each user can also specify a preferred site for uploaded files. If the preferred site is a File Server or replica site, the content is uploaded (cached) to that site. Otherwise, the content is uploaded to the master site (saved in the database or cache vault, depending on the settings).
To set or change these preferences:
1. Click Quick Links > My Settings > Preferences.
2. In the Vaulting and Replication category, find Preferred File Server.
3. From the actions menu, select Set Preference.
4. Select the appropriate option from the Value list and then click OK.
*
Constraints imposed by security labels may cause a file upload to switch to a less proximal file server. Care should be taken during file server proximity specification, to ensure that all file uploads that are considered legitimate will ultimately find a file server in the proximity list which is acceptable to any security label that may be created.
If you do not want the user to be able to set or change these preference:
1. Click Site > Utilities > Preference Management.
2. In the Vaulting and Replication category, find Default cache vault created
3. From the actions menu, select Set Preference.
4. Select the appropriate option in the Value list and then click OK.
For more information on working with an individual preference, see the description of that preference in the Set Preference window.
For more information on working with preferences in general, see About the Preference Management Utility.
