Cutting, Copying, and Pasting in Associative Structure Browsers
Within associative structure browsers (BOM Transformer or SAPSB), you can use the Cut, Copy, and Paste actions to move or copy objects within the same structure or between upstream and downstream structures.
To cut, copy, and paste objects:
1. Select the object to be cut or copied.
2. Open the context menu of the object and click the cut icon.
*
You cannot cut an object that has been annotated as being removed.
—or—
Open the context menu of the object and click the copy icon.
*
If a cut action is not allowed for an object, a copy is performed.
3. Select the location where you want to paste the object. Note the following:
A child part cannot be added to itself.
ss
You cannot paste an object based on relationship constraints, which determine valid associations among objects.
Depending on the location from which these operations are taking place, a BOM transformation can occur.
4. Open the context menu of the location you want to paste the object in and click the paste icon.
*
If you are cutting, copying, or dragging the root part of a structure, or if you have disabled the copying of usage information by setting the Copy Part Usage Information on Cut/Copy/Paste or Drag-and-Drop of Part preference to false, then you are asked to specify the quantity, and the unit of measurement for the pasted part.
5. Click OK.
The pasted object appears at its new location.
The following considerations apply when copying objects in BOM Transformer:
You can copy extended data objects from upstream and downstream tree structures in BOM Transformer and paste it in the Resulting Objects and Affected Objects sections of change task and change notice information pages.
Consider the following scenario: Select a combination of parts, enterprise data objects, plant data objects from the upstream tree structure. If you paste all the selected entities under a part in downstream tree structure, only the parts are pasted. The system disregards the enterprise data objects and plant data objects selections.
