Allocating Parts
The allocation of parts to an operation, and by extension, a process plan, is a key component of manufacturing process management. By allocating parts to an operation you define what parts are to be used, when, and how, during the manufacturing of your product.
Parts are allocated to an operation by using the tables on the Part Allocation tab and can be allocated in the following ways:
By allocating parts directly from the bill of materials.
By allocating parts to an operation, and then the system adds those parts to the BOM.
By allocating operated on parts to the operation. Operated on parts are parts that do not appear in the bill of materials of the associated assembly.
