Opening a Smart Collection in BOM Transformer
You can open a smart collection in BOM Transformer from the following locations:
In the folder browser page, right-click the smart collection and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer.
In the smart collection information page, select Actions > Open > Open in BOM Transformer with Context.
In the search result page, right-click the smart collection search result and select Open in > Open in BOM Transformer.
Consider the following scenarios:
Scenario 1: Parts from only one view are added to a smart collection
When such a smart collection is opened in BOM Transformer, a trimmed structure is displayed in the view from which the parts were selected to be added to the smart collection. The structure on the other side is not trimmed. The structure displayed in the other view depends on the following:
The values specified for the following preferences in Preference Management:
Associativity > Filter > Downstream > Configuration Specification > View
Associativity > Filter > Upstream > Configuration Specification > View
The equivalent link status of the root parts.
For example, smart collection Amap_engine is created using parts from upstream view only. When you open Amap_engine in BOM Transformer, a trimmed structure opens in the upstream view. If the value of Associativity > Filter > Downstream > Configuration Specification > View preference is set to Plant 2, and the root part in upstream view is equivalent with the root part present in the Plant 2 view, the structure present in the Plant 2 view opens in the downstream view. If the root parts are not equivalent, the downstream view appears blank.
Scenario 2: Parts from both the views are added to a smart collection
If a smart collection contains parts from both the views, trimmed structures are displayed in both the views when you open the smart collection in BOM Transformer. In this scenario, the values specified in the Associativity > Filter > Upstream > Configuration Specification > View and Associativity > Filter > Downstream > Configuration Specification > View preferences do not apply.
Scenario 3: Value specified in the View preferences and the view in which the smart collection was created do not match
For example, you added parts from Plant 1 view to a smart collection. Currently, the values of the Associativity > Filter > Upstream > Configuration Specification > View and Associativity > Filter > Downstream > Configuration Specification > View preferences are set to Plant 2 and Plant 3 respectively. When you open the smart collection in BOM Transformer, a dialog box appears prompting you to open the trimmed structure in upstream or downstream view.
