Allocate Parts to Operations in the Process Plan Browser (PPB)
To allocate parts to operations, do the following:
1. Click Open Related Part from the Tree Picker section. Drag the crankshaft_ground, crankshaft.prt, and valve_timing_sproket parts to the Assemble_Crankshaft_Sprocket operation. Crankshaft and sprocket are the parts related to the first operation, Assemble_Crankshaft_Sprocket.
*
You can use the Part Allocation tab to check the allocation status.
Similarly, drag other parts to the appropriate operations.
2. From the tree picker, select the three parts allocated to the first operation.
3. Right-click the Assemble_Pulley operation and select Paste As Operated On action. Perform the same action on the remaining operations.
Operated-on parts are parts that you can allocate to a process plan, but which do not appear in the BOM of the associated assembly. Parts that are consumed by an operation can still be allocated to other operations, using the Paste As Operated On action. For more information, click Working with Operated On Parts.
4. Check in the Master_Process_Plan process plan.
Consider the following points:
A generalized way of assembling is created.
This process plan is used in multiple plants so it can be referred to as the as a Master Process Plan. Up to this point, a Master Process Plan is created and it is related to the Manufacturing_Plant_India. This way multiple plants can be related, however, the process plan structure which is created is the same.
The next step is to be plant specific. Before sending the process plan to the individual plants, one more step referred to as Operation Localization is required. Localized operations are operations that are confined or restricted to a particular area or geographical location.
Operation Assemble_Crankshaft_Sprocket is an operation you can use across multiple plants. You want to consume this operation on Delta Robot India Plant because this machine is compatible with Delta Robot. In Windchill, the operation Assemble_Crankshaft_Sprocket is referred to as localized on the Manufacturing_Plant_India on the Delta Robot India Plant machine.
