Adding High-Availability Capabilities
If you wish to add high-availability (fail-over and fail-back) capabilities to your Windchill ESI deployment, consider the following:
You can easily achieve failover of the TIBCO’s BusinessWorks by properly using checkpointing in theWindchill ESI business logic and by deploying multiple process engines on different machines. However, theWindchill ESI business logic does not support fail-over of adapter instances due to the complexity of the API set, a TIBCO restriction on the management of adapter sessions, and the required processing sequence forWindchill ESI business objects. The only solution in the event of an adapter instance failure is to manually restart the adapter. This, however, does not pose a risk of data loss because of the object-oriented nature of the APIs used.
You can also configure multiple method servers on a single Windchill host and configure two or more Windchill clusters. For details, contact PTC Technical Support.
