Agreement Starting and Ending Dates
Each agreement must have a Start Date, which can be any date and time, and an End Date, which can be any date and time after the Start Date. The start date determines the date at which the agreement can be active. For example, if you set an original start date of June 1 and the current date is June 5, the agreement could be active right away, as long as all criteria for an active agreement are met. The end date determines the time when the agreement expires. Since the End Date can be any date or time after the Start Date, you could have an active agreement for as little as a few hours or as long as several years, depending on your settings. Both the Start Date and End Date attributes can be changed at any time. For example, if an agreement is created with a start date of June 1 and an end date of July 31, and the actual start date is delayed prior to the beginning of the agreement, the Start Date attribute can be changed to the actual start date. Similarly, if the start date is moved closer to the current date prior to the current start date, the agreement can be modified to reflect this change. If the Start Date or End Date attributes are changed while the agreement is active, the agreement will automatically update the agreement status to reflect the change.
When modifying the Start Date and End Date attributes, note the following for an agreement that is the latest version and is in the appropriate life cycle state to be active:
If the start date has not been reached and the start date is updated to a time before or at the current time, the agreement moves from Pending to Active status.
If the start date has not been reached and the start date is updated to a different time after the current time, the agreement keeps its Pending status until the new start time is reached.
If the start date has already been reached and the start date is updated to a time later than the current time, the agreement moves from Active to Pending status.
If the start date has already been reached and the end date is updated to a time before or at the current time, the agreement moves from Active to Expired status.
If the start date has already been reached and the end date is updated to a time later than the current time, the agreement keeps its Active status until the new end time is reached.
