PTC Windchill Status Tab
The PTC Windchill Status tab is available when you run SolidWorks in connected mode with Windchill Workgroup Manager. The status tab is placed at the bottom of the Customizable Task pane in SolidWorks, and displays the following information about the SolidWorks documents:
File Name
Status
Version
State
*
The information displayed in the PTC Windchill Status tab is based on the parameters defined in Windchill such as file name, workspace status, version in active workspace, and lifecycle state.
When a SolidWorks assembly from Windchill Workspace or Commonspace is opened in SolidWorks application, the PTC Windchill Status tab shows that assembly and their child components. The changes made to the CAD document in SolidWorks session is reflected in the PTC Windchill status tab after it is saved to Workspace.
The Windchill Status tab enables you to expand and collapse the assembly structure. By default, the first level of the assembly is expanded when an assembly is opened from Workspace or Commonspace.
In addition, in the PTC Windchill Status tab you can perform PDM actions by selecting and right-clicking one or more CAD documents. The availability of the PDM action depends on the status of the CAD document in Windchill workspace; thus, the PDM actions that are available in Windchill Workspace are valid in the SolidWorks feature tree PTC Windchill right-click actions.
The following table lists Object Statuses and the PDM actions available in the CAD application for each status:

CAD Document icons for Managed and Unmanaged Configurations
The configurations in SolidWorks can be created as separate CAD documents (managed) in addition to the generic or unmanaged in Windchill by setting the parameter PTC_IS_INSTANCE to Yes or No.
When a managed configuration is opened in a SolidWorks session, the icon associated with such a CAD document is valid for that instance (configuration) which is open in session. When an unmanaged configuration is opened in a session, the icon associated with such a document will be that of a generic CAD document.
