Security Label Parameter for CAD Application Clients and Arbortext Editor
Some authoring applications, such as Creo Parametric, Arbortext Editor, and various Windchill Workgroup Managers, can optionally use a CAD application parameter or system attribute to view security label internal values on objects within a workspace. The optional SecurityLabelParameter element specified for each security label in the security labels configuration file maps the parameter name to the security label name in Windchill. Only one SecurityLabelParameter element can be specified for each security label. This means that no matter how many authoring applications are in use at a site, they all must respect the same mapping and use the same parameter name.
Each parameter should be defined in the client as a String parameter. The parameter should also be defined as communicate to PDM system.
To view the application parameter or system attribute, refer to the following:
In Creo Parametric view the application parameter in Tools > Parameter.
Arbortext Editor, displays security labels and system attributes in the Object Properties dialog box.
The parameter can be viewed in File > Properties for most workgroup manager clients, including:
AutoCAD
Autodesk Inventor
CATIA
NX
SolidWorks
Security label values can be modified with the following methods:
Use the Edit Security Labels action on the object after it is created to update the label to the appropriate value.
Set an object initialization rule for the new object. When created, the object is automatically populated with the appropriate security label value.
Use the workspace Check In window to apply security labels to New objects. On the Collect Objects step, select a table view from the Pick a View drop down menu that displays All Security Labels columns. For more information on table views, see Creating and Editing New Table Views.
*
You can only use the Check In window to set security labels if the object is New. Once the object has been checked in the first time, during subsequent check-ins security labels will not be modifiable from the workspace Check In window.
After an object has been uploaded or checked in for the first time, security labels can only be set using the Edit Security Labels action.
For more information on parameters, see the Windchill Workgroup Manager Administrator's and User's Guide for your workgroup manager.
