Specifying the Filtering Criteria for the Option Filter
To specify filtering criteria and to apply them to the product structure:
1. Go to the Structure page for the top-level part of the structure that you want to filter.
2. Click Edit Filter from the toolbar.
3. In the Edit Filter window, click the Option Filter tab.
|
The assigned option set is listed at the top of the window under the filter tabs.
|
|
• Groups, options, and choices in the Option Filter window are displayed by default in the same order as defined by Option Manager.
• You can use different sort options and choices and can also return to the default display order set by the Option Manager using the Sort by Default Order table column action. This action is available only on the last user-defined sorting column of the table for an option set. For more information about this action, see Managing the Option Set.
|
4. Before you start selecting choices, you can use these actions located in the top-right corner of the window:
◦ Disable rule checking by selecting Disable Rule Checking.
|
If you select Disable Rule Checking when using the Option Filter tab (during the Set Filter step of the Configure process), the system skips the checks for choice rules, choice date effectivity, and for the Minimum Required and Maximum Allowed child parts. This allows you to create a variant part that violates the choice rules and the constraint on the number of the child parts. Once you unselect Disable Rule Checking, the currently selected choices are unselected.
|
◦ Override the current version of the assigned option set by clicking
.
◦ View the assigned option set by clicking
that opens the
Conditional Rule tab under the
Structure tab of the option set.
◦ Set the date effectivity for choices (if date effectivity is supported for the option set) by clicking the calendar icon
. Once the effectivity is set, the choices that are not effective for the given date are disabled.
5. Select the Design Option tab.
6. The Design Option tab lists the options included in the option set. Previously selected choices are listed in the Choices column. Specify the filtering criteria by selecting the appropriate choices:
a. Click an option, and all choices defined for this option appear in the right pane of the window.
b. In the right pane, click the choices that you want to include in the filtering criteria.
| You can locate a specific option or choice by using the Search in table feature. For more information about this feature, see Searching within Tables. |
| You can filter the table by selecting Options with Choices Selected and Options without Choices Selected from the pull-down list at the top of the table. Alternatively, you can view all options available. |
7. When finished, click OK. When you close the Edit Filter window, the filtering criteria are applied to the product structure and the page is refreshed.
Rules affect which choices are selectable, and what choices are selected automatically. For more information, see
Effect of Rules on Choice Selection.
Defining Choice Selection for an Option
For options with the Allow False Choice attribute set to Yes, you can select a single choice for filter evaluation when applying option filter to the configurable structure. This choice can be defined for the option filter as true or false.
In the
Option Filter tab, when selecting an option with
Allow False Choice attribute set to
Yes, a single choice for that option can be selected as
true or
false. To select the choice as included, or
true, click the radio button. To select the choice as false, click the
Set as False icon in the choices panel. After setting the choice as false, the choice is displayed with a false choice icon and is disabled. As a result, the choice is then applied as a false choice selection during filter evaluation. If the choice is defined as false in the assigned expression and is defined as false choice in the filter, the filter evaluates that choice as true. To revert the false choice selection, click the
Clear False icon in the choice panel.
| If you clear the Disable Rule Checking check box, both included and false choice selections are cleared in the Option Filter tab. |
Overriding the Version of the Option Set
The assigned option set is a version-controlled object; therefore, when an option set is assigned, it is the specific version of the option that is assigned. If you want to try out a different version of the assigned option set when defining filtering criteria, you can temporarily override the currently assigned option set by selecting another version. This override does not affect other users of the option set.
| The ability to override is available to Product Managers, Options Managers, and product members. |
To override the option set version, click
and select another version from the
Override Option Set Revision window. To remove the override, click the
Undo Option Set Override icon. This restores the assigned option set version.
Viewing and Selecting Choices using Textual Entry for Option Filter
In the
Option Filter tab, you can view a summary of the choices selected in the current option filter by clicking the
Display Selected Choices icon. This switches the display of the options table to the
Selected Choices table. This table also includes a column indicating the false choices with the
icon. For more information about false choices, see the “Defining Choice Selection for an Option” section above. In the
Display Selected Choices view, a panel becomes available in the right side, which is collapsed by default. To perform any management actions on the choices, you must first expand this panel.
When viewing the Selected Choices table, a textual entry field becomes available within the choice panel to select and add choices to the option filter definition. In this field, you can manually enter choice selections or copy a comma-separated list of choices from an external application such as Microsoft Excel. Choices can be selected using auto-suggest search by entering choice number, choice name, or option name. Choices can be entered in the textual entry area using either name or number based on the Choice Display Format preference. In this preference, you can set the value of the Rule and Expression Format field to either Name or Number. Choice entries must be included within double quotes if the choice name or number includes a space or special character.
After you have entered or copied choices in the textual entry area, click Add to process the choice entries and add the choices to the Selected Choices table. A false choice is indicated by a negation character outside the double quotes. You can specify the negation character in the ato.negation.operator property in the wt.properties file. The default value of this property is “-”.
| The system displays an error if you set a choice as false and the Allow False Choice attribute is set to No for that option. For more information about this attribute, see Creating Textual and Numeric Options. |
To remove a choice (or multiple choices) from the Selected Choices table, right-click a choice and select Remove. This action is also available in the table toolbar. However, you cannot use this action to remove a choice that is included by a rule.
To set a selected choice from included (or true) to false, right-click a choice and select Set as False. This action is also available in the table toolbar.
To set a selected false choice to included (or true), right-click a choice and select Set as Included. This action is also available in the table toolbar.
