Adding a Host
A host is a system on your network that can be used to store content files. Creating a new host associates a site with a machine on the network.
To add a new host from the Vault Configuration window, do the following:
1. Click
or click > > to open the
New Host window.
2. In the Host Name field, enter the Domain Name System (DNS) name or IP address of a system that is used to store content files associated with objects. The name you specify cannot have any blank values.
| The system does not validate the host name that you specify. |
3. Select a site from the Site list.
4. Select a Host Type from the following:
◦ Cluster Node -Hosts of this type share common mount paths.
◦ Standalone Node -Hosts of this type can have a different mount path than another Cluster Node.
Mount paths on all hosts must point to the same location.
5. Click OK.
| All folders must be mounted to all defined hosts for a site. Otherwise, a method server running on a host without a mount is not able to access content files. |
| If a site has multiple hosts, all mounts for a particular folder must point to the same physical storage location. Any deviation from this practice may result in data loss. |
