Viewing Where Used Information
The Where Used table on the Related Objects tab of an object’s information page provides a list of assemblies that use the object, and is generated by recursively traversing up the Uses links in a parent-child structure. Uses links are Version-to-Master; that is, linking a specific version of a parent to the master of the child object. As a result, when traversing up the structure, it may be the case that several versions of a parent object have Uses links to the master of a particular child. In this case, the version reported in the Where Used table is determined as follows.
• In the commonspace—The latest version of a parent that uses the child is reported.
• In the workspace—The version of a parent that uses the child and is also in the workspace is reported.
In commonspace, the latest version for the selected object is also displayed in the Where Used table. In the Latest view of the table only the latest version of parents is seen. But the Default view displays the parents even if they are not the latest version. It also shows a status icon in the ‘Version Compare Status’ column to indicate if the parent is the latest version or not. The Latest Version column in the table contains a hyperlink to the information page of the latest version. If you don’t have access to the latest version, then ‘Secured Information’ will be displayed in the column. The following image displays the Where Used table with the Default view selected.
| • In the commonspace report, the latest version for the selected object is also displayed in the Where Used table. A new table view needs to be created for commonspace Where Used if you want to customize the out of the box views. • Further, table views will not be shared between commonspace and workspace Where Used. Admins and users will need to maintain separate table views for the reports. |
The Where Used table is available from an object's information page when the Related Objects tab is displayed.
