Information Control Numbers (ICN)
The Information Control Number (ICN) is the unique identifier of an illustration sheet, multimedia object, or attached data. The ICN is used to establish the relationship to one or more data modules. The ICN is independent of the file format.
The unique ICN can be based one of two types
The project code. This is known as Model Identification code-based.
The company/organization code. This is known as CAGE code-based
ICNs can be added to the information structure as Model Identification code-based or CAGE code-based.
If you are working in an S1000D 4.2 product, you can link an ICN Metadata File (IMF) to an ICN.
For more information about ICNs, see Illustrations.
