Raise Issue of an ICN
To raise an issue of an Information Control Number (ICN):
1. Select the appropriate ICN in the Information Element List.
2. Select the Management > Raise Issue context menu item.
The Raise Issue page is displayed.
For more information, see Raise Issue.
3. Select the required security classification from the Security Classification drop down menu.
4. Enter the required variant code.
5. Data modules that reference the ICN may also need to be updated. In the Related Data Module(s) table, specify the action that should be carried out to update each data module.
New version of Data Module, add new Item — the new version of the data module includes an additional reference to the new ICN, as well as the existing reference
New version of Data Module, replace Item (default) — the new version of the data module includes an updated reference to the new ICN
No action — do not update the data module
The update options available for a data module depend on its current workflow state.
If the data module is checked out, the only option is No action.
If the data module is currently at state Issued, a new issue will be raised.
If no data modules reference the ICN, the table is empty.
6. Click Complete Task.
A new ICN with an updated issue number is created.
If the original issued ICN was linked to an ICN Metadata File (IMF), a new IMF with an updated issue number is also created. This applies if you are working in an S1000D 4.2 product and information structure.
For more information, see ICN Metadata Files.
The data modules that reference the ICN are updated or raised in issue as appropriate.
A log of the Raise Issue action is generated and provided in Reports > Raise Information Control Number Issue. It details the changes that were made for each data module that referenced the original ICN.
When you choose to update a data module using either method, the results vary depending on its current workflow state:
