Using Configurable Links
Special link types, known as configurable links, are provided which can be used to configure and display additional relationship tables on document and part information pages. JSP files have been provided to allow sites to implement and display these configurable link tables. The tables then display in the navigation link menus on the information page.
Configurable link tables provide a means to create and display object-to-object relationships specific to your site’s needs, in addition to those provided out-of-the-box by your Windchill solution. These additional object-to-object relationships are determined by defining relationship constraints for the configurable link types from the Relationship Constraints tab of the type information page.
Four types of configurable links are available:
Configurable Describe Link—A version to version relationship
Configurable Reference Link—A version to master relationship
Configurable Masters Link—A master to master relationship
Configurable Revision Link—A revision to revision relationship
These modeled link types are not instantiable. You must create a subtype of these modeled types to use them. More than one subtype can be created for each modeled type.
*
After creating a subtype of the Configurable Masters Link, you must define access control policy rules for the subtype.
An example has been provided out-of-the-box for each of the configurable link types, including tables for both the parent type and child type information pages. For information on turning on the example, as well as information on implementing your own configurable link tables, see Configurable Link Tables.
