Using the Event Management Utility for Received Delivery Import
Importing a received delivery is different from other means of importing information into Windchill as it not only allows you to map select attributes, but it also allows you to have more control of how conflicts are resolved.
Conflicts are issued when unexpected situations are encountered during import. Errors occur during the actual import. Most conflicts have one or more optional solutions or resolutions and one is identified as the default resolution. Similar to other forms of import, received deliveries allow you to apply the default resolution to a conflict. Import of a received delivery provides the unique capability to specify other, non-default, resolutions through the Event Management utility.
When a conflict that does not allow resolutions is encountered, it is listed in the Event Management utility. When a conflict that allows resolutions is encountered and a resolution for that conflict has not already been identified (by using previously saved resolution or the application of default resolutions), it is also listed in the Event Management utility. The utility displays a list of unresolved conflicts in one location. If the list only contains conflicts that can be resolved, you are able to specify the resolution to be applied and retry the import. Any conflict that cannot be resolved requires you to review the import log to determine a means to resolve it outside of the Event Management utility. Once the source of the conflict has been corrected, you can use the Import action on the received delivery to restart the import.
