Publishing Resources
Manufacturing resources can be published to ERP and MES systems, such as SAP or Oracle Manufacturing.
The following resources can be published.
• Tooling
• Process materials
• Skills
• Work centers, if assigned to an operation
Resources can be published:
• when a pre-defined lifecycle state has been reached.
• when a related change notice has been published.
• manually by a user, using the Send to Distribution Target action.
Windchill MPMLink allows a resource structure to have its own structure and process plan so that you can define how to build a resource. These resource structures can be published when Windchill ESI is available. The process plan includes the resource structure in the response when published through Windchill ESI. ESI response can publish any type of resource structure created in Windchill. By default a production BOM for resources can be created in SAP and ERP systems for the following types of resources:
• MPMProcessMaterial
• MPMTooling
|
These resources must be mapped to material of type PRT in the middleware. For more information, see Bill of Materials.
|
|
Work centers must exist in the production systems before they can be published.
|
Processing resources are published according to the operations they have been allocated to.
• In SAP processing resources are published as PRT assignments, allocated to the operation.
• In Oracle Manufacturing processing resources are published as linked resources, with the Principle Flag field left clear.
|
Processing resources must exist in Oracle Manufacturing systems before they can be published. Skills must exist in SAP systems before they can be published.

Common Enterprise Data
Publishing of Common Attributes.
When Publish Common Enterprise Data Information preference has been turned on, the common Enterprise Data attributes are published for resources in response. These common attributes can be mapped to appropriate master data attributes as required.
|
When this preference is turned on, then version information from Windchill does not come from the resource, but from the associated enterprise data.
|
Plant Specific Attributes for Parts
Plant-specific attributes for a part can be published using the view-specific capabilities of Windchill MPMLink. To publish plant-specific attributes:
• Ensure that the Publish View Specific Enterprise Data Information preference is set to Yes from > > > category.
• Define a specific view corresponding to each of your plants in Windchill MPMLink.
• Define your plant-specific attributes in the corresponding view attributes tab.
• Use Windchill ESI to publish your part.
Windchill ESI then retrieves the plant-specific attributes for the part from Windchill MPMLink and sends that information to the relevant organization in the distribution target.
|
While publishing plant-specific attributes or view-specific enterprise data, the Saved Filter is used from:
• BOM Settings on distribution target when publishing using Send to Distribution Target action, Send Material to Distribution Target action, Promotion Request, or Set State.
• Process Plan Settings on distribution target when publishing using a process plan.
• Change Notice Settings on distribution target when publishing using a change notice.
• Resource Settings on distribution target when publishing a resource structure.
