Adding a Constraint to an Operation
To add a constraint to an operation, use the following procedure:
1. From the navigation pane select the operation to which you want to add a constraint.
2. Click the Related tab. The Constrained Operations table is displayed.
3. Click the add constraint icon . The Add Constraint window opens.
4. Edit the constraint attributes, and click OK.
*
Use the Lag field to define lag times in your constraints, if, for example, there needs to be a set period of time before one operation can start, after another has finished (for example, to allow paint to dry).
The attributes that appear in the table are described below:
Attribute
Description
Operation
The operation being constrained.
Name
The name of the constraint.
Number
The number of the operation being constrained.
Operations Holder
The parent of the operation being constrained.
Constraint Type
The type of constraint being applied to the operation (for example, Start_End).
Lag
The time delay between constrained operations (for example, to allow for drying).
Required
Indicates whether the constraint is mandatory or not.
