Associating a Context to an Adapter
Site or Organization Administrators must associate a context for each adapter listed in the Adapters Administration utility. This allows users the ability to modify the context associations to their integrated SCM adapter.
This procedure explains how to associate one or more contexts to an IBM Rational ClearCase adapter.
For information about the type of context associations adapters can have, see Managing Context Associations to Adapters.
1. From Site > Utilities or Organizations > Utilities select Adapters Administration in the System Administration section of the page to open the Adapters Administration window.
2. From the Adapter Definition table in the Adapters Administration window, click Associate Context to open the Adapter Associations window.
*
The Adapter Associations table lists any contexts already associated to the adapter.
3. To associate a new or additional context to the adapter, click Associate Context to open the Find Context window.
4. In the Find Context window, you can choose from the following search options:
a. Click the Type pull-down menu to select the type of context to search on. Available context types are All Contexts, Library, Product, Project and Program.
*
Depending on the context-type selected, unique fields in the Find Context window opens for you to enter information about the context type selected.
b. If you know the context name, enter it in the Context Name field. This field is optional.
c. If you want to only include contexts categorized by member association, click the I am a member of check box. This field is optional.

5. In the Search Results table, click the check box in one or more contexts rows to associate this adapter to one or more contexts.
6. Once the search and selection is finished, click OK in the Find Context window. Once the system loads your selections, the Adapter Associations window opens where the newly added contexts associated to this adapter appear in the Adapter Associations table.
7. In the Adapter Associations table, click the Reference Type pull-down list for a selected context.

b. Select View to associate one or more views of the adapter for this context. Go to step 8.
c. Select Config Spec, if you want to create a config spec for the adapter. Go to step 9.

b. In the Configuration Specifications table, click Add Config Spec to open the New Configuration Specification window.
c. Enter the following information:
Action
Description
Name
Enter a unique name for the configuration specification. The configuration specification name can have alphanumeric, dot, dash, and underscore characters only.
*
When creating multiple adapter config specs, do not use identical config spec names. This results in not being able to differentiate between multiple config specs in the system.
Description
Enter a description for the config spec.
Label
Add IBM Rational ClearCase adapter version labels by typing the name of the label in the Labels table and clicking Add . Repeat for each label you want to assign to this configuration specification.
*
The Labels table is essentially an ordered list of labels. You enter which labels you want to use for the adapter config spec.
The system does not currently check with IBM Rational ClearCase to ensure that the entered label names are valid. Therefore you must verify that the entered label names are correct. An incorrectly entered label name possibly returns no results when browsing IBM Rational ClearCase from Windchill
If you are working with multiple labels, the labels towards the top of the list take precedence over the labels toward the bottom of the list. If several labels reference different versions of the same object, then the object version referenced by the highest label on the list is used.
d. To change the order of the labels in the list, select the label to reposition. Click the action in the Labels table.
Label Table

Removes the selected label from the table.
Moves the label to the top of the table.

Moves the label down one row in the table.
e. To delete an unwanted label, click Remove in the Labels table.
f. When finished, select OK. The system creates the configuration specification for the adapter with its specified labels. The Configuration Specifications window opens.
g. If you have additional contexts to configure, go to step 7 to configure the Reference Type and to follow the instructions in this step.
h. If you do not have additional contexts to configure, click Close to load and save the selections. The Adapter Associations window opens.
