Explicit mapping occurs when you use Windchill to match a parameter with a soft attribute. This is done in Type and Attribute Management. Type and Attribute Management has an Attribute Mapping tab where you map the soft attributes. You can add, modify, and remove the mappings. If you change the mappings, it does not affect the existing CAD documents.

Similar to implicitly mapped parameters, the values from the CAD application are added to the CAD document upon upload, and the values of soft attributes set in Windchill are reflected in the CAD file upon download.
