Manage Applicability in Data Modules
You can reference and assign applicability information to the content in data modules (DM). A summary of the process to manage this information follows:
• Applicability information is imported into an S1000D product in ACT/CCT/PCT DMs. The content in these DMs generates Windchill options and choices.
• You can associate an ACT DM to a data module during creation.
• There are three options for configuring applicability settings for the content in a DM:
1. Use the Set Assert dialog box in Arbortext Editor to define applicability attributes for the assert element
2. Use the Manage Applicability option in Windchill to view or update existing applicability settings for the DM
3. Author applicability statements directly into XML content
• Two types of applicability statement are supported with the Windchill Service Information Manager — S1000D Module:
1. A single statement with multiple applicability property values
For example:
<applic>
<evaluate andOr="or">
<assert applicPropertyIdent="pnr" applicPropertyType=prodattr" applicPropertyValues="E241001AA10100|E241001AA10300"></assert>
</evaluate>
</assert>
2. Multiple statements, each with a single applicability property value
For example:
<applic>
<evaluate andOr="or">
<assert applicPropertyIdent="pnr" applicPropertyType="prodattr"
applicPropertyValues="E241001AA10100"></assert>
<assert applicPropertyIdent="pnr" applicPropertyType="prodattr"
applicPropertyValues="E241001AA10300"></assert>
</evaluate>
</applic>
Applicability statements can be authored in either format, or in both formats.
• The value of the preference Retain Multi-Valued Applicability Property Values can specify the format in which authored applicability statements are written into content and in output when the DM is published or exported as part of an S1000D Export Package.
◦ Yes — output applicability as a single statement with multiple applicability property values
◦ No — output applicability as individual statements, each with a single applicability property value

The preference specifies how applicability authored in a single statement with multiple applicability property values is processed. It is analyzed when processing applicability statements written as an Advanced Expression in the Manage Applicability dialog box.
If you have authored applicability as statements with a single applicability property value, these are unaffected.
Applicability authored for the DM using the Set Assert dialog box in Arbortext Editor is unaffected.
