You can open a Creo Illustrate illustration with a .3cdi file extension using the workspace File > Open In > Open in Creo Illustrate , or Open in Creo Illustrate commands from the following Windchill locations into your active Creo Illustrate session:
• Active workspace on the primary server
• Workspace on the primary server
• Workspace listing page
• Right mouse button (RMB) on workspace listing page
• Actions drop-down list in the commonspace and workspace
• Folder listing page (commonspace page) under the Actions column.
• Add to workspace/Checkout UI when “Open initially selected objects in Authoring Application” check box is checked.
• Windchill search result page
• Navigator search result page
• Primary Content report of a CAD document information page
• Windchill Service Information Manager with Windchill Service Parts (if installed)

◦ Folders page
◦ Structure page
◦ Workspace page
1. In Windchill, select the illustration to open from the workspace File > Open In > Open in Creo Illustrate , or from the action, Open in Creo Illustrate.
2. If you have not checked out the illustration while in the active workspace, check out the illustration if you want to modify it in Creo Illustrate. To do so, select Check Out in the Windchill ribbon.
3. When finished viewing or editing the illustration, you can save it to the active workspace, or check in using Checkin from within Creo Illustrate or from within the active workspace.
