Using Wildcard Characters
When entering values in search fields, you can use asterisks (*) as wildcard characters to indicate that one or more characters can appear in that position in the search string.
For example, if you enter “Design” in the Name field without the wildcard characters, the search results would be limited to objects whose Name attribute consisted of that word alone. But entering “*Design*” would return objects of the specified type with names such as the following:
• Windchill design prototype
• A Design For Development
• Designing Engine Parts

The Name field is case-insensitive, so searches on name are performed without regard to case.
