Replacing a Part with its Peer Equivalent Part
The Replace With Peer Equivalent Part action, available in the downstream view of MAPSB, is useful to carry out tasks such as color management and material management. Execution of this action replaces the current equivalent part with its peer equivalent part, if available. You can also launch this action by clicking > .
The difference between the Replace and Replace with Peer Equivalent Part actions is that the Replace action enables you to search and replace a downstream part with any part. The Replace With Peer Equivalent Part action allows you to replace a downstream part with its equivalent peer parts only.
Perform the following steps to replace a peer equivalent part:
1. In the downstream structure, select one or more parts.
2. Right-click the selected parts for which you want to make a replacement and click
Replace With Peer Equivalent Part. The
Replace With Peer Equivalent Part dialog box appears.
The dialog box provides information about the following entities:
◦ The selected part
◦ All the peer equivalent peer parts of the selected downstream part and their equivalent link status.
A warning message is displayed if no peer equivalent part exists for the selected downstream part.
3. In the Replacement Object list, select the peer equivalent part that you want to replace with the selected parts.
4. Click OK.
The tree structure is updated and the replaced parts are highlighted in the downstream view.
