To branch an individual document from the Document menu
1. Select the root of the document that you want to branch and select Document > Branch. The Branch window opens.
2. For Select a Destination Project, select the project you want the branched document to be a part of.
3. For As Of, select an option for associating the branch with a specific point in time.
The following table lists the As Of options for branching documents.

Now
Select Now to branch the current version of the document.
Revision
Select Revision. A list of applicable revisions is shown. You can type some text in the Show revisions containing text box to display branches containing specific text.
Branch
Select Branch. A list of applicable branches is shown. You can type some text in the Show items containing text box to display branches containing specific text.
Label
Select Label. A list of labels associated with the item displays.
Select the label you want to branch the item as of.

This option is unavailable if a document has not been labeled or baselined at least once.
Edit
Select Edit. A list of user names associated with modifications to the document displays.
Select the user name and details you want to create the branch as of.
Date
Select Date. A calendar displays, allowing you to select a date to branch the document as of. The document must have existed at the date and time you select or else you will get an error.

When branching a document based on a point in the past, subsegments are replaced by a shared item that has an “As Of” hyperlink to the segment root.
4. Click OK. The Item Details for the branched document displays.

When you branch a document it creates a copy of an entire document without copying the actual text content, linked images, or attachments. The text content is shared from the original document.
