Connections for which SSL Is Supported
SSL is supported for the following connections:
PTC RV&S Server listening port. The following items connect to this port:
PTC RV&S Client GUI and CLI
Web browsers
PTC RV&S Servers—Includes connections between proxy servers and other PTC RV&S Servers, the staging and production servers for the Admin Migration Wizard, and the configuration management server and workflows and documents server
PTC RV&S API (Java and C) for integrations connecting to the PTC RV&S Server as an integration point
SOAP web services
PTC RV&S Implementation Platform (IIP)
Gateway
PTC RV&S Agent listening port. The following items connect to this port:
PTC RV&S ServerPTC RV&S Automated Test Execution Framework (ATEF) functionality
Connections from PTC RV&S to other systems that use transport layer security (TLS) or SSL:
PTC RV&S Server to an LDAP server
PTC RV&S Agent to an LDAP server
PTC RV&S Server to a IBM Security Access Manager (ISAM) server. For more information, see PTC RV&S Server for IBM Security Access Manager.
PTC RV&S Client to an HTTPS server for linked images in rich-text fields and presentation templates, where the linked image is stored on an HTTPS server
SSL is not supported for the following connections:
PTC RV&S Server to a FlexNet Publisher server—FlexNet Publisher uses a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP instead of SSL/TLS.
PTC RV&S API (Java and C) for integrations connecting to the PTC RV&S Client as an integration point—SSL security is unnecessary, since all communication occurs locally on the same machine.
