PTC RV&S uses a database to store data collected while using PTC RV&S, including version control information (revisions and project information). This same database also stores security, configuration, and administrative information for: Workflows and Documents, Configuration Management, and the PTC RV&S server.

Each PTC RV&S server requires its own dedicated database instance. Multiple PTC RV&S servers sharing a single database instance is not a supported configuration.
