Server Performance and Server Statistics
The PTC RV&S server generates and maintains statistics about various operations performed on the server during the server uptime. These statistics can provide insight into the overall performance of operations and identify outliers for further investigation.
You can use the generated statistics to get an overview of how a server is performing over a period of time and gain insight into areas of the product that are not performing optimally and may require tuning.
Since the collected statistics are cumulative over time and are reset when the server restarts, the best time to collect statistics is when the server has been up and running for a significant time. Statistics data collected immediately after a server restart generally does not contain enough useful information.
Server performance monitoring consist of:
Server monitoring
Server alerts
Incidents
Performance monitoring
Profiling
PTC RV&S uses the open-source applications Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring its servers. For detailed information on server monitoring see the Sever Monitoring Guide on the Reference Documents page of the PTC eSupport Portal.
