Connections for which SSL Is Supported
SSL is supported for the following connections:
• Serveur Windchill RV&S listening port. The following items connect to this port:
◦ Client Windchill RV&S GUI and CLI
◦ Web browsers
◦ Serveur Windchill RV&Ss—Includes connections between proxy servers and other Serveur Windchill RV&Ss, the staging and production servers for the Admin Migration Wizard, and the configuration management server and workflows and documents server
◦ Windchill RV&S API (Java and C) for integrations connecting to the Serveur Windchill RV&S as an integration point
◦ SOAP web services
◦ Windchill RV&S Implementation Platform (IIP)
◦ Gateway
• Agent Windchill RV&S listening port. The following items connect to this port:
◦ Serveur Windchill RV&S—Windchill RV&S Automated Test Execution Framework (ATEF) functionality
• Connections from Windchill RV&S to other systems that use transport layer security (TLS) or SSL:
◦ Serveur Windchill RV&S to an LDAP server
◦ Agent Windchill RV&S to an LDAP server
◦ Serveur Windchill RV&S to a IBM Security Access Manager (ISAM) server. For more information, see Windchill RV&S Server for IBM Security Access Manager.
◦ Client Windchill RV&S to an HTTPS server for linked images in rich-text fields and presentation templates, where the linked image is stored on an HTTPS server
SSL is not supported for the following connections:
• Serveur Windchill RV&S to a FlexNet Publisher server—FlexNet Publisher uses a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP instead of SSL/TLS.
• Windchill RV&S API (Java and C) for integrations connecting to the Client Windchill RV&S as an integration point—SSL security is unnecessary, since all communication occurs locally on the same machine.
