To set up a grid
*
To modify an existing grid, highlight the target grid and go directly to step 4.
1. From the presentation template designer, drag the grid tool onto the design pane to add a new grid to your template. The New Grid dialog box displays. By default, the template starts with a grid containing two rows and two columns.
2. Set the size of the grid:
In the Number of Rows field, select the number of rows required for the grid.
In the Number of Columns field, select the number of columns required for the grid.
3. Click OK to insert the new grid on the design pane.
*
These procedures only describe how to modify selected grid components of the template. Through the Layout Properties dialog box, you can make global changes that apply by default to all grid components.
4. Modify the properties of the grid as required:
For Background, specify the default background color of the grid. You can select a named color from the list, or click Custom and select from the Swatches, HSB, or RGB color selectors. Your systems determines the Default color.
For Border, specify the width of the border around the outside edge of the grid. Values range from 0 to 99. By default, Border has the value 0.
For Cell Padding, specify the distance between individual cells on the grid. Values range from 0 to 99. By default, Cell Padding has the value 0.
For Cell Spacing, specify the distance between the cell contents and the cell margin. Values range from 0 to 99. By default, Cell Spacing has the value 0.
For Fill, specify whether the grid expands to fill the available display space. If fill is set to True, the grid expands to fill the available width in the item display. If fill is set to False, the grid uses only the space required to display its contents. By default, Fill is enabled.
*
Because it can result in an uneven border, it is preferable to use the Fill=False option only for grids at the bottom of the item display.
For Pack, specify the horizontal space occupied by columns. If pack is set to True, then all columns are sized to fit their contents and the last column (at the far right) then occupies the remaining horizontal space in the grid. By default, Pack is enabled.
For Transparent, specify whether the grid is transparent. If a grid is transparent, the cells of the grid inherit the transparent property. By default, grids in the header are transparent by default (True); however, all grid in tabs have transparency set to default (transparency is based on the default grid defined in the item presentation template properties).
For Visible When, specify a value to control the visibility of the selected grid. For example, if the grid is only visible when the assigned group is visible, select Assigned Group. The visibility of the grid takes priority over the visibility of an individual cell.
The selected grid is immediately formatted according to your selections.
5. To save your changes, click Save.
