Using Properties
Properties specify information that affects the operation of the Windchill RV&S server. These properties are specifically workflows and documents and configuration management. Some properties are stored in the database and configured from the Windchill RV&S administration client or the CLI. Other properties are stored and configured in properties files on the server’s file system.
The following are considerations when using properties:
Some Windchill RV&S server properties require the server to be restarted for the changes to take effect. Changes made to workflow and document, and source management properties are applied automatically by the Windchill RV&S server. The Requires Bootcolumn in the Properties view and the Boot Information field in the Edit Property dialog box indicate if the server must be restarted for the changes to take effect.
Access to viewing and configuring properties is based on permissions. An administrator with the AdminServer or DebugServer permission for workflows and documents can view and edit workflow and document properties, an administrator with the AdminServer or DebugServer permission for configuration management can view and edit configuration management properties, and an administrator with the Windchill RV&S server AdminServer or DebugServer permission can view and edit properties for all components. If a permission for a specific component is not assigned, the relevant Configuration node does not display any properties in the Windchill RV&S administration client.
