Before Installing the Windchill RV&S Client
Before installing the Windchill RV&S client, you need to do the following:
• If you are using any IDE integrations with Windchill RV&S, disable all integrations before you install the new client. Then, shut down and remove any earlier Windchill RV&S client. Failure to do so may cause operational problems later on.
|
To disable an integration or uninstall an earlier release, follow the instructions provided in the product documentation accompanying that release.
The contents of your existing Sandboxes are not lost during an upgrade.
|
• The
Windchill RV&S installer is not bundled with supported JDK. Ensure that you install the supported JDK version before you begin installation of
Windchill RV&S. For supported JDK version, see the
PTC Release Advisor.
Also, before you install Windchill RV&S client on Linux, ensure that the first entry in the environment variable points to the path of a supported version of JDK.
• Ensure your system has sufficient disk space and virtual memory. The installation program does not report an error when your system is running out of disk space. For Linux systems, if there is insufficient free space in the /tmp directory, the installation program attempts to unpack in your $HOME directory. For disk space and virtual memory recommendations, contact your administrator.
• Before installing the Windchill RV&S client on a 64-bit Linux operating system, ensure that the 64-bit X11 libraries are installed. These libraries can include (but are not limited to) the following: libX11, libXext, libXau, libxcb, libXtst, and libXi. For further instructions on how to install the 64-bit X11 libraries, consult the documentation for your operation system.
• Before installing
Windchill RV&S on Windows, ensure you preserve existing system settings by manually creating a system restore point. Creating a restore point allows for system restoration in the case of error. For information on creating restore points, refer to
www.microsoft.com and find the restore procedure for the version of Windows you are running.
