To define a custom action for a ViewSet in the GUI
1. Select > . The Customize <ViewSet> ViewSet dialog box displays for the Actions tab.
2. Under the Action Group column, select the Custom action group. The custom action panel displays.
3. Under Action Availability, do one of the following:
◦ Enable a custom action, for example User Action 1.
◦ Corresponding to a custom action, click Edit.
The Customize User Button dialog box displays.
4. Enter the following information into the text fields:
◦ Name is the name of the program as you want it displayed in the Custom menu of the Windchill RV&S client.
◦ Program is the path to the program or script file that you want Windchill RV&S to run. To select the program, click Browse.
◦ Parameters are the options or flags the program requires to run. If no parameters are required, leave the field empty.
◦ Description is the descriptive tooltip text that displays when the mouse pointer is paused over the button. This field is optional.
◦ Icon File is the path to the icon file that Windchill RV&S uses to represent the selected program or script. Note the following about using custom icons:
▪ Icon resolution should be 24 by 24 pixels.
▪ To select the icon file, click Browse.
▪ If you do not specify an icon, a default one is used by the ViewSet (see the Toolbar Button column).
▪ This field is optional.
◦ Environment File is a path to a text file that stores environment variables when the custom action is performed. This field is optional. To select the environment file, click
Browse. For more information on environment variables, see
“Defining Custom Actions”.
5. To accept the changes, click OK. The Customize User Button dialog box closes and the custom toolbar’s Action Visibility check box and Custom action group check box are enabled.
6. To close the Customize ViewSet dialog box and display the new custom action, click OK. The new toolbar button displays and the toolbar button name displays in the Custom menu.
