Viewing Windchill RV&S Server Alert Messages
CLI EQUIVALENT
im/si viewserveralert, im/si serveralerts
Your administrator can send alert messages to all users currently logged in to the Windchill RV&S server. Alert messages allow your administrator to notify users about important information, such as an impending server upgrade in which the server will be shut down.
If you are working in the Windchill RV&S client GUI with the Windchill RV&S system tray or Web interface for workflows and documents, alert messages appear in a window at the bottom of the interface.
The alert message displays who sent the message, the server it came from, when it was sent, and the message. Alert messages are plain text only and do not support rich content. If there is more than one message, the top of the alert message window indicates message # of #, with previous and next arrow buttons that cycle through the messages. To close the alert message window, click Close or press ESC.
Users working in the CLI, Web interface for configuration management, and Windchill RV&S client GUI without the Windchill RV&S system tray must manually check for alert messages from the CLI. For more information, see the CLI man pages.
Key Considerations
In the Web interface, the date displayed for an alert message is the server’s date, time, and time zone. In the GUI and CLI, the date displayed for an alert message is the client’s date, time, and time zone.
In the Windchill RV&S client GUI with system tray, you can view alert messages for all of the servers you are currently connected to by right-clicking the system tray icon and selecting Server Alerts.
To avoid manually checking alert messages from the command line, launch the alert messages dialog box from the command line by specifying -g or --gui and keep the dialog box open. The dialog box automatically refreshes to display new alert messages.
