Configuring General Options for the Document View
In the Options window, the General tab displays options for specifying how you want to work with documents and content in the Document view.
View layout
View layout options specify whether to display the Outline pane in the Document view and how to show the relationship hierarchy of the document or content. To learn more about document model relationships, see Relationships in the Document Model.
Link with detail specifies whether selecting an individual item in the Outline pane selects the same item in the Content pane.
Link with outline specifies whether selecting an individual item in the Content pane selects the same item in the Outline pane.
Show outline specifies whether to show the Outline pane in the Document view.
Show row header icons specifies whether to show the row header icons for included documents in the Document view.
*
If the check box for Show row header icons is cleared, a performance improvement for larger documents with sub documents is observed
Substitute parameters specifies whether parameters are replaced with correct parameter values. This checkbox applies to an item that has parameters specified in a text field that is set up to support parameter substitution. Windchill RV&S searches a hierarchy of items that are related to the current item to determine what parameter value to substitute. If you change a parameter value in the Document view, you must refresh the view to see the impact of the change on related document items.
Table Content
The Table Content option specifies how to show content in the table that appears in the Document view.
Wrapping shows the entire contents of a field in the Document view. This means that images, tables, and other rich content are fully visible.
Editable supports editing content directly in the Document view. You can click the field that you want to edit and then make changes. If the field is a pick list, choices display. Your administrator defines the choices that are available in the list.
*
You cannot edit a field if a relevance rule is set that prevents it. Contact your type administrator for more information.
Item Preview
The Item Preview option configure the Item Details view in the Document view. The Item Details view can be hidden, docked and uneditable, or docked and editable.
Off hides the Item Details view. Only the Items pane is visible.
View Only displays the Item Details view in read-only mode so that you can only view the details for the item selected in the Outline pane. You cannot edit the item details.
Editable displays the Item Details view in write mode so that you can view and edit the details for the item selected in the Outline pane. When this checkbox is selected, Enable inline editing for relationship field items (available in single-edit mode only) becomes available. Selecting this checkbox makes inline editing available for test steps in the Edit Item Details view.
Tooltip Display
Tooltip Display has only one option.
Show full field value in tooltip specifies whether to display full or truncated tooltips for long field values. When this checkbox is cleared (default), truncated tooltips are shown. When this checkbox is selected, full field values are shown.
Filtering
Filtering has only one option.
Show parents in filtered documents specifies whether a child’s parent content displays in the Content pane, even when the parent does not meet the filter criteria. When this checkbox is selected, the filter bar displays the text and their parents as an indicator. Modifying this option reapplies the filter.
Row Position
Row Position determines the position of a selected row in the client GUI table after a Refresh or Scroll action.
This option is available only when the value of server property mksis.im.scrollSelectedRowToTopInSwingTable is set to false. By default, this property is set to true.
*
A client restart is required if you make any changes to the value of this property.
When the Selected row at top option is selected, the position of the selected row automatically scrolls to the top in the client GUI table after a Refresh or Scroll action.
When the Selected row at top option is cleared, the position of selected row does not automatically scroll to the top in the client GUI table after a Refresh or Scroll action. Depending on the row height and number of rows appearing in the visible portion of the table, the selected row may not get scrolled in the visible portion of the table.
*
The Row Position option is available only in the Items View and Document View.
