HotFix ID Numbers and Install Information
HotFixes are identified using the following numbering scheme:
HF-(C|S)JJNNLLYYY-ZZZ.zip
where
C is a HotFix for the Windchill RV&S client.
S is a HotFix for the Windchill RV&S server.
JJ is the major release.
NN is the minor release.
LL is the maintenance release.
YYY is the Service Pack release (for example, Service Pack 6 is 006)
ZZZ is the HotFix number. This number is incremented continuously and spans service packs.
For example, HotFix number 12 on Integrity Lifecycle Manager 12.1 CPS5 would be HF-S019000005-012.zip for the Windchill RV&S server, and HF-C019000005-012.zip for the Windchill RV&S client.
HotFix installation information is displayed on the Windchill RV&S server home page, and can also be viewed in the log files after the server is re-started. HotFix installation information is also generated for HotFixes that are installed directly on a proxy. HotFix installation information is displayed as follows:
• The Windchill RV&S server home page lists all HotFixes installed on the server (for the server and client).
• The > dialog box in the client graphical user interface and Web interface lists all installed client-side HotFixes.
• The si about and im about commands list all HotFixes that have been installed on the client using the command line interface.
• A list of installed HotFixes can be viewed using the Windchill RV&S API.
• All installed HotFixes are also listed in the Server.log and IntegrityClient.log.
HotFixes are bound to the service pack release they are based on. HotFixes based on one service pack release cannot be applied to a different service pack release. For example, For example, HotFixes based on CPS1 cannot be applied to CPS2.
After HotFix installation, a marker file is placed in the following folder on the Windchill RV&S server and indicates which HotFixes have been installed:
Windchill RV&S Server installdir/installinfo
An installinfo file is also generated on the proxy when a HotFix is installed directly on a proxy. The marker file is a text file (.txt) and the file name is based on the HotFix number.
As is the case with service packs, HotFixes are placed in the following location on the server:
Windchill RV&S Server installdir/server/servicepacks/releasenumber
where releasenumber is JJ.NN.LL.
If a new service pack is installed, it automatically removes any HotFixes that were based on previous service packs. When the Windchill RV&S server is restarted, the log of installed HotFixes is also updated accordingly. The PatchServer.log and the SPInstall.log are also updated whenever a HotFix is installed.
