Oracle SQL*Net provides encryption for the communications channel between the Windchill RV&S server and the Oracle database.

Oracle SQL*Net encryption is a subcomponent of the Oracle Advanced Security option in Oracle Database. You must configure Oracle Database to enable support for SQL*Net encryption.

Note that enabling SQL encryption or data integrity checking in Oracle SQL*Net affects system performance. For more information, see the Windchill RV&S Performance Tuning Guide.

You must set up this configuration after installing the Windchill RV&S server. For that reason, the Windchill RV&S server installer cannot connect to the Oracle database using SQL*Net encryption.
