To work with administrative locks in Windchill RV&S
1. Open the Windchill RV&S administration client and connect to the selected Windchill RV&S server, whether a staging server or production server.
2. Right-click the Workflows and Documents node on the tree pane. From the shortcut menu, select one of the following commands:
◦ Obtain Admin Lock to place an administrative lock on the server. If you have the required permissions, the lock is placed immediately. If you do not have the required permissions, an error message displays.
◦ Release Admin Lock to release an administrative lock on the selected server. If you are releasing the lock on a production server, a message cautions you that releasing the lock means an inability to migrate any existing changes from the staging server to the production server. The message includes the user ID of the person who set the lock, the lock time stamp, and the host name and port of the server the lock is bound to. If the lock is not bound to any staging server, the message indicates that.
◦ View Admin Lock to view the status of an existing lock on the production server. Anyone using the Windchill RV&S administration client can view the status of an administrative lock. The View Admin Lock dialog box displays the user ID of the person who set the lock and the lock time stamp. After reviewing the status of the target lock, click Close to exit.
3. In the title bar of the Windchill RV&S administration client, an administrative lock is indicated by Locked, for example:
◦ On a locked production server:
Administration jriley@abcFinancial:7001 (Locked)
◦ On a locked staging server:
Administration jriley@abcFinancial:7001 (Staging Server - Locked)
◦ On a locked staging server with stagingsServerDisplayName=My Server specified in is.properties:
Administration jriley@abcFinancial:7001 (My Server - Locked)
If there is no administrative lock, lock status is not appended to the title bar. For example, an unlocked staging server displays:
Administration jriley@abcFinancial:7001 (Staging Server)
