To set Windchill RV&S client preferences from the GUI

1. Select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences Configuration window displays.

2. In the tree pane, under Windchill RV&S Client, select the General node. The General pane displays.

◦ To set the appearance of the GUI, select an option from the Look and Feel list. A client restart is required for changes in this list to take effect.

This option is not available for clients installed on Linux. Such clients use the same system look and feel.

◦ To set the time in milliseconds before a command’s status displays in the GUI, type a numeric value in the GUI field under Popup Status Delay, or use the up and down arrows to select a value. The default value is 2500.

To set the time in milliseconds that a command’s status displays in the CLI, type a numeric value in the CLI field under Popup Status Delay, or use the up and down arrows to select a value. The default value is 0.

◦ To close and shut down the Windchill RV&S client when using the Close Window command or clicking the X at the top right-hand corner of the Windchill RV&S client window, enable the option for Exit on Close. This option is disabled by default.

◦ To set the maximum amount of memory reserved for the Windchill RV&S client at run time, under Miscellaneous in the Maximum heap size field, enter a value in megabytes, or use the up and down arrows to select a value. The minimum value is 5 MB, and the maximum value depends on your available system memory. The default value is 512 MB .

Changing the heap size setting may unfavorably affect the performance of the Windchill RV&S client and your system. Consult your administrator before making changes.

◦ On Windows, you can enable or disable a Windchill RV&S client system tray icon that indicates the client is running by toggling the Enable System Tray Icon option. When enabled, you can also perform some basic client commands by right clicking the client icon. The client system tray icon is enabled by default.

You must restart the Windchill RV&S client for the new preferences to take effect.
