Understanding ViewSets (GUI)
A ViewSet is a collection of views in a specific configuration that persists each time you open and close the Windchill RV&S client. Each ViewSet can be designed around one or more tasks, often corresponding to a specific role, such as a developer or project manager.
Your administrator may configure some ViewSets to be mandatory. Mandatory ViewSets automatically install on your Windchill RV&S client at the time you connect to the Windchill RV&S server. Mandatory ViewSets are automatically opened for you. You cannot close mandatory ViewSets; and if you delete them, they are automatically imported and opened the next time you start the Windchill RV&S client.
If your administrator configures a ViewSet so that it is no longer mandatory, you must first delete the mandatory ViewSet before you are able to import the new non-mandatory version.
If no ViewSets are open in the Windchill RV&S client — using the available buttons centrally located in the client window — you can still edit preferences, view help, and close the client window. Additionally, the following ViewSet buttons are available:
New ViewSet see “Creating a ViewSet”.
Import ViewSet see “Importing a ViewSet”.
Open ViewSet see “Opening a ViewSet”.
