When you use the Locate command to locate where a Windchill RV&S configuration management object is used, a Locate view displays the information.
The Locate view displays the following information:
Distinct set of project names located by the search.
Development Paths
Distinct set of development path names located by the search.
Registered Projects
Distinct set of top-level project names located by the search.
All Occurrences
Checkpoints displays the checkpoints containing the object.
Name displays the name of the object.
Registered Projects displays the top-level projects containing the object.
Dates displays the date ranges in which the object exists.
Project displays the projects containing the object.
Development Path displays the development paths containing the object.
Revisions displays the member’s revisions.
The Checkpoint Labels column is not displayed in the Locate view by default. The column displays parent project's checkpoint labels. For more information on selecting columns to display in the Locate view, see To set view preferences in the GUI.
If other projects exist that you do not have permission to view, Windchill RV&S displays the following message at the bottom of the view: Other records exist that you are not allowed to see.
If you are searching by name, you can specify the maximum number of results to display. If the number of objects that match the search criteria exceeds the set limit, Windchill RV&S displays the following message at the bottom of the view: Showing <set limit> of <total number of objects>. The number of results displayed is also controlled by the server limit, which is set at 5000 by default. Administrators can change the default limit.
To change the depth and scope of the search, select View > Change settings. The Locate dialog box displays, allowing you to refine your search.
It can take a long time to display registered projects on the Registered Projects tab. Information on the All Occurrences tab can also take a long time to display if the tab contains the Registered Projects column.
You can use the Show rows containing text filter to filter search result information on each tab in the Locate view.
You can also perform some commands on objects selected in the Locate view. For example, you can view a selected member’s history or delete a selected revision.
